swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. Partnerships with local and international actors are at the core of our work. Together, we combine competence and creativity to reduce violence and promote peace in contexts affected by conflicts. In collaboration with the University of Basel, swisspeace offers a number of postgraduate programs and courses for peacebuilding professionals from around the world.

Furthermore, we organize the annual Basel Peace Forum, the world's first forum dedicated to addressing the topic of peace across various sectors. The event brings together 300 people from politics, business, diplomacy, science, civil society, and the arts who would otherwise not meet.

To support the Communication Team and the Basel Peace Forum, we are looking for an Intern (80-100%).

Your position

  • Responsible for guest and speaker relations during the 10th edition of the Basel Peace Forum
  • Support the conceptualization, organization, and implementation of the Basel Peace Forum
  • Support the organization of events of swisspeace and pro swisspeace
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate our (digital) communication activities, such as management of websites, newsletters, and social media
  • Assist in writing and editing tasks, for example, in the framework of our annual report
  • Support other activities related to the thematic team and its development

Your profile

  • BA (higher degrees will not be accepted) in communication or media sciences, international relations, political sciences, peace studies, or similar disciplines
  • Strong interest in (science) communication, the organization of events, and peacebuilding topics
  • Proven experience in managing various communication projects and platforms
  • Highly organized, with a willingness to support administrative tasks
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English and German; additional languages are an asset
  • Familiarity with communication tools such as CMS, Adobe Creative Cloud, and others
