This project is part of the interdisciplinary research ‘Practices of Social Participation and Islamic Social Ethics (PSOPIS)’ funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) (Head: Prof Dr Hansjörg Schmid). The project is dedicated to the relationship between ‘lived social ethics’, which will be empirically investigated on the basis of practices of social participation in the fields of asyle chaplaincy and social action by Muslim organisations, and the theoretical positioning of Islamic social ethics on social participation. A total of two doctoral students and one postdoc will be working on the project.

The Swiss Centre for Islam and Society (SCIS) is a competence centre for questions on Islam in Switzerland with a focus on Islamic-theological self-reflection. The SCIS offers a dynamic research environment in an interdisciplinary and multilingual team with international research perspectives. In addition, SZIG works together with various state and civil society organisations. This means that working at SZIG also provides insights into public relations work, networking and the area of further education and services.
